What do hedgehogs eat?

What do hedgehogs drink?
After months of rest, hedgehogs will have worked up a thirst and on the hunt for a hydrating drink. Just clean water will be enough to make your local hedgehogs happy. Milk is not a suitable drink to give hedgehogs.
Where do hedgehogs live?
Hedgehogs like a dry woodland space like hedgerows and under wood piles to live and hibernate in. Unfortunately, we are losing more natural habitats, resulting in the decline of the hedgehog population. Fortunately, there is a solution to this, and it involves us wildlife lovers. By placing a hedgehog barn/home in your garden, you will be providing a safe, warm place for your local hogs. It's a fantastic way to attract more to your garden, and you may even end up with a hedgehog family with baby hoggies!

Hedgehogs are now listed as "vulnerable" on Britain's red list of mammals and a species of principal importance to protect. The leading causes for this are the lack of food and loss of habitat.
When do hedgehogs come out of hibernation?
The beginning of Spring marks an important time for hedgehogs as their internal alarm clock rings, and it's time to come out of hibernation. The UK's hedgehogs are usually expected to make an appearance from the end of March/April, but this can vary due to the climate's temperature, daylight hours, or food availability.
When do hedgehogs hibernate?
Hedgehogs will begin hibernating in late October and will continue to do so until March-April. However, the time frame may vary depending on the weather and the individual hedgehog, as some will hibernate earlier or later and some won't even hibernate at all! That's right, studies have shown that more and more hedgehogs are skipping their long hibernation sleep. If you are keeping your hedgehogs well-fed, they won't need to preserve energy to survive the winter.
