The Big Farmland Bird Count encourages UK farmers to observe and report on the variety of wild birds that see in their fields in February each year.

Run by the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust, the BFBC is an important initiative that helps to record the effect of any conservation schemes currently being initiated by farmers and gamekeepers on their land, such as supplementary feeding or growing wild bird seed crops and game cover crops. Find out more here: https://www.bfbc.org.uk/

Here on the Ivel Valley farm, we're lucky to see some very rare species of wild birds including the declining Tree Sparrow, Linnet, and Skylark (pictured). More information on declining farm birds can be found on the RSPB website here.

Each year, some of the Ivel Valley team venture out to the fields for a few days in February to see which birds they can spot. The below list is taken as an average number over a 3 day birdwatching trip.
