Maize Suet Balls
In our Maize Suet Balls we use a much high quantity of Maize than we do wheat to bind the fat balls together. This helps to keep the amount of wheat we use down, lowering the risk of attracting unwanted garden birds like Pigeons.
We grow all of our own maize here on our Bedfordshire farm so only the best quality product will go into our fat balls.
What are maize suet balls for birds?
We have taken our popular suet ball recipe and added maize, one of the highest oil and energy content of all cereals. The maize gives the suet ball a crumblier texture, making it easier to digest and preventing it from going too hard in winter. Its high-calorie contents help birds maintain a healthy weight, keeping them warm during cold seasons.
Are maize suet balls good for birds?
Because maize suet balls contain no fillers and hold high nutritional value thanks to the premium ingredients used, it is an excellent food choice your garden birds can enjoy all year round! Maize suet balls are a great energy source and will benefit your birds during the nesting season and winter months.
Which birds like maize suet balls
The best thing about maize suet balls is that it's loved by various garden birds, including Tits, Siskins, Goldcrests, and Woodpeckers. You can even crumble the balls up and put them on tables and the ground for Robins, Wrens, Blackbirds, Dunnocks (and more!).
How to hang maize suet balls for birds
The best way to hang your maize suet balls is with a suet ball feeder. We sell a variety to choose from that can hold different quantities of balls. If you want to keep larger bird species such as Jackdaws and Pigeons away from your suet balls, we recommend using a suet ball feeder that comes with an outer cage.
How long do maize suet balls last
Our maize suet balls can last up to 12 months. This is due to the animal suet and other fats used in the recipe, which will eventually go off after a year.
Each ball is approximately 90g in weight. Please note suet ball products are measured by weight and all numbers are approximate.
Packaging: The film on the 8 pack option is recyclable. Our 50 balls option comes in a fully recyclable plastic bag. Our 150 and 200 options come in fully recyclable plastic liners inside a cardboard box. Our cardboard boxes are also made from recycled materials and our gum tape is recyclable. Please note, the plastic liner is to protect the suet balls in the box only and is not a carry sack. Do not attempt to pull the plastic liner out of the box.
