Product Details

Over 90% success rate in deterring squirrels!

Feedback from our trial indicates that over 90% of respondents confirmed either squirrels avoided the Chilli Suet entirely or were deterred after tasting them. This resulted in longer-lasting enjoyment for garden birds!

Why chilli powder?

Chilli products, particularly those containing capsaicin, can act as a deterrent for squirrels due to their sensitivity to the compound. Capsaicin is the chemical responsible for the spiciness or heat in chilli peppers. When squirrels encounter capsaicin, it irritates their taste buds and mucous membranes. This irritation causes temporary discomfort that they associate with the food source. As a result, squirrels are more likely to avoid anything spicy or chilli-infused. It is a humane, harmless deterrent that has no long-term effects on squirrels.

Is it safe for birds?

Absolutely! Birds lack the receptors that make capsaicin hot for mammals. This means that birds can consume chilli products without experiencing any discomfort.

What birds eat Chilli Suet Blocks?

Our Chilli Suet Blocks have become a favoured feed among popular garden bird species such as Robins, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Great-spotted Woodpeckers, House Sparrows, Goldcrests, Blackbirds, Wrens, Nuthatches, Thrushes, and many more!

What bird feeder should you use with Chilli Suet Blocks?

You can feed your suet blocks to garden birds with any suet block feeder. Or you can simply place your suet blocks on a bird table or ground feeder.
