Product Details

UK bred live Waxworms are packed with protein, fat and moisture so ensure your garden birds are getting several of the key nutrients they need all year round. Simply pop some waxworms in a feeder or dish and watch as birds flock to your garden!

Waxworms are the larvae of the Waxmoth.

These UK bred waxworms are specially treated with a completely natural process to inhibit pupation and aid storage. They’re fed a delicious diet jam packed with nutrients including honey and wheatgerm.

The soft skins on waxworms make them ideal for wild birds as they’re easy to digest and break apart. Their high protein content means they’re suitable to feed all year round, especially in the spring during mating season and egg production.

Waxworms are available in clear tubs for easy feeding and storage.  The waxworms can be stored in the tubs they come in, or in a larger well-ventilated container. Bran and honey can be provided for food and moisture to elongate their lifespan.

Size: Our regular mealworms are approximately 15-25mm in length.

Feeding: Can be fed directly on the ground, on tables or in mealworm and tray hanging feeders with high enough sides to stop them crawling out.

How to Store: Waxworms should be stored in a cool dark, well ventilated area.  The warmer they are kept the faster they grow, and then pupate and become moths.  At room temperature waxworms can be kept for around 3-4 weeks before they pupate, although moths can be a great treat.
