    Sunflower Heart Chips

    BRAND: Ivel Valley Bird Food

A smaller alternative to whole sunflower hearts, these sunflower heart chips are packed with the same healthy nutrients as their whole counterparts. Our Sunflower Heart Chips are a great energy and protein source of bird feed for wild birds. Whilst they might not be as pretty as our whole Premium Sunflower Hearts, the contain exactly the same nutrients, healthy oils and vitamins and are a wonderful year-round feed for many garden birds. Their small size and structure means that birds with small or soft beaks can break through and digest them easier.

They have the added advantage of having the husk removed so there is no husk waste in your bird feeders or on the ground; giving you more for your money and an easier dining experience for the birds!

Birds that typically enjoy this food tend to be smaller birds with soft bills which can include Blackbirds, Blue Tits, Chaffinches, Collard Doves, Goldfinches, Great Tits, Greenfinches, House Sparrows, Nuthatches, Robins, Siskins, Song Thrushes and Starlings.

    What are Sunflower Hearts?

Sunflower Hearts are the inner seed found when you remove the black husk from Black Sunflower Seeds.

Why are Sunflower Hearts good for birds?

Sunflower Hearts are packed with healthy oils, protein and have a high energy content (high calories) which makes them great for birds in all weathers and stages of life.

    - Birds in the winter benefit from the extra energy that Sunflower Hearts offer, helping to keep them warm
    - They're packed with plenty of nutrients to help fledglings and chicks grow
    - All kinds of birds can eat them, so if you're looking to attract a variety of wild birds to your garden, Sunflower Hearts are a great choice

They're great for all kind of birds because they're much softer than Black Sunflower Seeds. The tough husk on a Black Sunflower Seed is often hard for birds to crack through, especially those that have softer bills, so the spongy, soft Sunflower Heart is an all-round crowd pleaser.

Have been looking for this size of sunflower chip but many companies offer larger chips and some whole ones mixed in.Ivel chips are the perfect size for ground feeding birds. Robins, blackbirds and wren love them. The finches have the whole hearts in the seed feeders.

    All the birds love them
Our birds love these sunflower chips - generally even more so than the full sunflower hearts. They produce no mess whatsoever as any bits that are dropped below the feeders are quickly hoovered up by the waiting blackbirds, chaffinches and other birds, so I'm happy too.
